Magdalena left Poland at 19 to study at university in the Republic of Ireland. She went on to study at a top business school in Austria for two years on an ERASMUS scholarship. Among the challenges she faced was the fact that all her courses were in German, a language she had yet to learn. Further studies followed in Portugal and Germany before she moved to England six years ago. Today she is a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and works for Sky where she has been nominated twice for her overall performance and analytical skills. She has shown remarkable determination and sacrifice studying in her own time and paying for the CIMA studies despite her personal hardship.
She highlights that: “Today we see a lot of media news about gender equality which is a hugely important topic, but we don’t talk enough about helping migrants become successful, particularly in the higher echelons of the corporate environments.”
