Amazon Step Up Work Experience Continues to Inspire Migrant Leaders Mentees

events Jun 24, 2026

We are proud to celebrate another successful week with Amazon as part of our multi-year partnership, continuing to create meaningful opportunities for Migrant Leaders mentees to develop the skills, confidence, and ambition needed to succeed in the world of work.

This week, 16 Migrant Leaders mentees took part in the Amazon Step Up Work Experience Programme, gaining valuable insight into different industries, career pathways, and the capabilities required to thrive in leading organisations.

Learning Through Real-World Experience

Throughout the programme, our mentees worked collaboratively to develop innovative ideas using Amazon's tools and frameworks. They learned how to shape concepts, test their ideas, refine their thinking, and present their recommendations with professionalism and confidence.

By working on real-world challenges, participants strengthened key employability skills including:

  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Problem-solving and creative thinking
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Innovation and customer-focused thinking
  • Professional confidence

Opening Doors to Future Careers

Experiences like the Amazon Step Up programme have a lasting impact on our young people. They help build aspiration, strengthen workplace skills, increase confidence, and enable mentees to see themselves succeeding in ambitious professional environments.

At Migrant Leaders, we believe that access to high-quality work experience is a powerful way to accelerate career development and broaden horizons.

Thank You to Amazon

We are incredibly grateful to Amazon for their continued commitment to social mobility and for investing in the talent, potential, and future leadership of our mentees.

Together, we are creating opportunities that empower young people from underrepresented backgrounds to realise their potential and build successful careers.
