Launching EduTech Kids in Response to Covid-19 and Economic Downturn

news Dec 03, 2020

We are delighted to launch EduTech Kids, a charity scheme for disadvantaged primary and secondary school kids. We aim to help alleviate digital poverty in education by providing laptops, smartphones and other digital equipment for their homes, donated through mobilising our network of corporate partners. The main aim of this scheme is to help boost digital inclusion for young people and to close the gap in education and development which has widened further for disadvantaged communities due to Covid-19. This scheme is part of our charity’s wider response to Covid-19 and economic downturn which disproportionately impacts disadvantaged and ethnic minority families.

The EduTech Kids scheme is part of the Fardad Foundation, an independent UK registered charity set up in 2017 to support young people from disadvantaged and ethnic minority backgrounds. The first programme, Migrant Leaders, was launched in 2017 to provide bespoke support to talented young 1st and 2nd generation...

Migrant Leaders Takes Part in Eutopia Collaboration of European Universities

events Nov 25, 2020

During a workshop co-organised by Warwick’s EUTOPIA partner the University of Ljubljana, Elham Fardad delivered a presentation about inclusion and diversity in corporate spheres, sharing her experiences and advice from over two decades in senior leadership roles across global businesses. She discussed how students can discover job opportunities and create connections on the global stage, such as enrolling in virtual internships and taking part in mentoring programmes with experienced professionals.

Elham’s principal message was how students and graduates can “take advantage of disadvantage”, and find ways to thrive in their future careers, despite challenges that they might face due to factors such as a lack of resources and connections, or discrimination against gender and social or ethnic background. “Generation Z have the advantage and ability to take on opportunities on the global stage in order to overcome any disadvantages they may face on a local...

The main aim of this scheme is to help close the primary schools educational attainment gap which has widened further for disadvantaged communities due to Covid-19. Migrant Leaders Founder & CEO Speaking at University of Warwick Change Maker Series

conferences events news other Oct 22, 2020

We look forward to Migrant Leaders Founder & CEO Elham Fardad speaking at the University of Warwick Change Maker Series on the topic of collaboration across sectors. Elham Fardad, herself an alumni of the Warwick Executive MBA which she completed in 2003, says:

“I am elated to be a regular guest speaker at Warwick University and to share my experience and insights which I hope will influence their audiences at their various student, alumni and other events. It is truly fulfilling to serve the university who gave me the chance all those years ago to join their Executive MBA at such a young age which enabled me to benefit from the vast experience of that cohort. I started my MBA around the time that I joined GE as a Financial Controller in 1999. I was acutely aware of how young I was for that GE role and I sensed that my key success factor was to be my commercial and operational contributions to the wider GE business. The Warwick MBA gave me a framework for that and...

The article brings valuable insights on why and how employers can create a workplace where everyone can thrive and the importance of this to young talent. Our Founder & CEO Elham Fardad would like to give a shout out to our very own Jouja Maamri who is a member of the Migrant Leaders Executive Team, “Jouja is one of the very talented young people I am lucky enough to be working with, who has put her personal purpose at the centre of her work and career aspirations right from the start. She and so many others give me hope that together we can build a world and a future that offers everyone more hope than we had in the past.” Migrant Leaders Founder & CEO, Elham Fardad.

Migrant Leaders Launches Opportunity Fund for Migrant Students

awards news other Sep 01, 2020

Migrant Leaders has launched its long planned Migrant Leaders Opportunity Fund to enable exceptional migrant students to attend top universities. Our talented migrant students often find themselves in a situation where, despite gaining offers to study at top universities, they may not be entitled to student funding. This sometimes comes as a shock to them as many have been here for years and made Britain their home. Israel Johnson, Migrant Leaders Mentee and one of the recipients of the fund says “My story began when I moved to the UK in 2010 with my family when we sought safety from the violence of Boko Haram in Nigeria. I want to dedicate my life to the field of science but am ineligible for student finance, Migrant Leaders is giving me that opportunity by paying for my tuition fees to study Biomedical Science at the University of Warwick.”

Successful students will work directly with Elham Fardad and gain her additional mentoring, support, connections and...
